If you’re anything like me, and love the fall season, I bet you can’t wait for all the classic fall smells. I love the smell of cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie, crisp air, and freshly made bread. They make me feel warm and happy and I can’t think of anything I like better! Luckily, I found this great DIY/recipe that will have your whole house smelling exactly like Fall.
This “potpourri” is not like your traditional potpourri. Instead you use real ingredients and “cook” them so that your whole house smells of cozy fall favorites. Do this project right before you have guests over and once your guests arrive your entire house will smell like you have something delicious baking in the oven. If you love fall as much as I do you will absolutely love this project.
Ingredients:
O One Apple
O Vanilla Extract
O Cinnamon sticks
O Ground Cinnamon
O Whole cloves
O Pumpkin pie spice
O Sauce Pan
Directions:
O Cut the apple into quarters and place into pan on stove top.
O Fill the pan with water and place the cinnamon sticks, ground cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and cloves into the water. All the ingredients are to “smell” so the amount is up to you.
O Add a teaspoon or more of vanilla extract and SIMMER on stove top. It is very important you do not let the water boil because then the smells won’t be very delicious!
O Let simmer to your hearts content!
My favorite fall scented candles!
You have to be careful and not let the mixture get too hot, and of course since it is on the stove be careful of kids in the kitchen or someone accidentally knocking it over! Once you complete this little recipe the smell of autumn and pumpkin and spices will fill your house and warm everyone up.
